As of 1st June, the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has commenced whittling down a list of four international bidding groups who are all competing for a £250 million contract to build the media centre for London’s 2012 Olympic Games. The contract, which is the third biggest by value for the games after the athletes’ village and the main stadium, will consist of developing 1.3 million square feet, including separate press conference and international broadcast centres, as well as a car park which will accommodate 1,300 parking spaces. Rosemound, the developer owned by Australia’s Macquarie Goodman, is working with the Watford-based builder Norwest Holst and architects Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson and RMJM. The Australian PFI financier Babcock & Brown has linked up with Balfour Beatty and BDP architects. The builder of Paddington Central, Development Securities, is working in partnership with the French constructor Bouyges and Hopkins Architects. Carillion is in alliance with Igloo and Allies & Morrison Architects.
