The scheme's architect Chris Goodwin of Rayner Davies commented that the development, which will also include a new road and landscaping, will consist of houses taking the form of traditional properties built in The Park Nottingham in the1800s.

Close to the Haywood School, the houses will be family homes and are expected to attract people already living in the area.

Farmers of Nottingham Limited, own the land and have moved their car sales operation to Mansfield Road. Demolition and site preparation is just starting and building will commence in due course.

Andrew Farmer stated that the company had been heavily involved in the design process of the residential development. He said: "We are expecting that the development will attract families who live locally. It will be an attractive place to live. These are stylish houses with landscaping and hedges to the site."

Mr Goodwin added that the scheme had excellent local amenities - including a school, shops and leisure facilities, adding that Rayner Davies had given consideration to the sustainability of the houses:
"Each property will meet high eco standards and will include thermal insulation, a rainwater butt kit, a garden composter, energy efficient boilers and eco sustainable materials will be used where possible.

The redevelopment of the site for residential use will improve the area and will help create a balanced community.

This is a brownfield site and the design will benefit the street scene and set a new benchmark for quality expected in locations like this."
