Derbyshire Independent Training Group

An Independent Training Group consists of registered employers who wish to influence the way training is arranged and delivered to their employees.

The key features of the ITG are: 

  • At least 75% of ITG Member employers must be in-scope and registered with CITB-ConstructionSkills.
  • An ideal number of Members for the ITG would initially be 20 companies.

Objectives

The objectives of the group are:

Integrated Training Plans

1.      To identify and review company training plans ensuring they are maintained and used effectively to identify future training requirements of the organisation. 

2.      To organise and co-ordinate training for the ITG Members.

3.      To co-operate and liaise with Construction Industry Training Board in order to promote the training needs of the Construction Industry.

4.      To co-operate with local and national training providers, manufacturers and other authorities as regards the provision of facilities for training leading to the award of NVQs/SVQs or other such nationally recognised awards/qualifications. 

Apprenticeships

5.      To work and support organisations to identify, recruit and retain apprentices.

6.      To provide an independent support network for apprentices to meet and discuss common issues. 

Benefits to members

The following has been identified as benefits to the ITG Members:

  • Training can be arranged to suit local needs.
  • Members are kept informed on all matters which may affect them and may be advantageous to them
  • The Group can organise and fund /part fund events and project which they consider worth-while.
  • The group can direct the Training Officer to influence other bodies such as schools, other funding bodies and key stakeholders where members would normally not have time or contacts available to achieve this.
