About Local Clubs
Clubs are designed to allow people from across the construction industry to get together to learn and share Best Practice. The Clubs are genuinely local services. Each new Club is started by the drive and vision of a person or persons in the local construction industry. During the set up period your Club will be supported by DTI funded Constructing Excellence. Once established, members run their Club, set up the programme of events and decide which areas of Best Practice they wish to explore. In this way, each Club will address matters of specific local concern, as well as those of national interest.
Clubs vary according to the local nature of the construction industry. Typically, a Club will comprise a group of perhaps 20+ people who meet locally a number of times each year to learn about Best Practice from each other. The meetings are often informal and are usually held in the evenings. On occasions it could involve inviting a guest speaker, or visiting a nearby construction Demonstration Project or local companies that have been innovative themselves. The Clubs are also a good opportunity to network as they are open to clients, contractors, consultants, specialists - indeed anyone involved in the process of construction.
Those involved in running a Club will be recognised as leaders, committed to innovation and change.
