ROAD DESIGNERS SIGN UP TO THE ‘HALVING WASTE TO LANDFILL’ COMMITMENT
Scott Wilson is delighted to announce that it is one of the first global design and engineering consultancy’s to sign up to WRAP’s (Waste & Resources Action Programme) ‘Halving Waste to Landfill’ Commitment.
Driven by the Government’s ‘Strategy for Sustainable Construction’, the commitment, set up by WRAP, allows organisations across the construction supply chain to demonstrate their intention to halve waste to landfill by 2012. Over 100 organisations have signed up, including a number of major contractors who, as a result, will be expecting their consultancies to help them deliver against it.
On behalf of Scott Wilson, Chris Jennison, Managing Director for the Roads Sector, signed the Commitment on Tuesday 2 June. Chris commented “Being among the first to sign the Commitment is a natural progression for the Roads Sector of Scott Wilson, building on the commitment and capabilities we have already demonstrated in delivering environmentally sustainable and award-winning highway schemes, such as the A30 Bodim to India Queens and the Clipstone Bridleway.”
Mike Watson, WRAP’s Head of Construction said “We are pleased that Scott Wilson has signed up to the Halving Waste to Landfill voluntary agreement. Designing out waste is an effective way to reduce the costs of on-site waste management and maximise the value of the design process. By signing up to the agreement Scott Wilson will be able to create a quantified reduction in the waste sent to landfill, benefit from greater resource efficiency and play their part in combating climate change”.
