Howard is the grandson of the company's founder, and has worked at Baggaley for over 50 years after serving his apprenticeship within our Joiners shop coming through the ranks to become a director in 1966, and then Chairman in 1970. In 2008 he took a step back from the Construction side of the business, but remains as Baggaley Group Chairman.

He has led Baggaley to the forefront of the construction industry within the Midlands and Yorkshire. Highly motivated towards the development of both his own staff and the construction industry generally, Howard is a national Board Member of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).

Pro Vice Chancellor (Enterprise)

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise) leads the University's core strategies of building on its knowledge transfer achievements and exploiting further its intellectual assets. As Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise), Phill directs all activities within the Enterprise Office and is also responsible for maximising the scope for innovation and creativity in the expansion of this area.

Tim is the Science and Enterprise Development Manager, leading the development of the Loughborough Science and Enterprise Park. Tim is also co-ordinating proposals for additional property to house tenants graduating from Loughborough Innovation Centre.  The Science Park is part of a comprehensive range of property for knowledge based enterprises and research institutes.  It will provide the vital last stage of spinout graduation from the University and satisfy the unmet demand for space adjacent to the campus from international high tech companies seeking to collaborate with Loughborough University.

John Wissinger is a Senior Architectural Designer and Associate with HDR CUH2A. Through more than 10 years of architectural experience in both the US and the UK, and as lead architect on a diverse range of project types, John’s work strives to create environments that encourage human interaction at all levels, regardless of typology. As a leader in the firms’ sustainable efforts, his work focuses on applying simple concepts to complex building types. He is also actively engaged in the firm’s ‘centre for innovation’ with a special focus on sustainability and author of the firm’s Sustainable Design Guide – Second Nature.

Senior Lecturer in Renewable Energy in the Built Environment 

Paul Obtained a PhD in Materials Science from the University of Cambridge in 1990. Subsequently employed at the National Research Council, Canada (1990-93), De Montfort University, Leicester (1994-96), University of New South Wales, Australia (1996-1998) and BP Solar (1998-2000). Joined Loughborough University in August 2000. Recently appointed as a Senior Lecturer, developing an interdisciplinary team focussed on research and development of renewables in the built environment.


Dr Jacqueline Glass

Dr Jacqueline GlassProgramme Director, Admissions Tutor, Part A Year Tutor: Architectural Engineering and Design Management / Senior Lecturer in Architecture and Sustainable Construction

Dr Glass joined Loughborough University as a Lecturer in Architectural Engineering in 2003, where she teaches on undergraduate programmes in Architectural Engineering & Design Management, Construction Engineering Management and post-graduate courses (Jacqui is also Admissions Tutor for AEDM). Dr Glass has published extensively and has been a keynote speaker in the USA, Canada and Europe, giving addresses to CEN, USGBC, Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, the US Government Federal Facilities Committee, and a dedicated lecture tour attended by about 1,000 industry professionals. Most recently, these interests have expanded to take into account the issue of resilience and security; she is a Co-Investigator on the 'Pre-Empt' project which aims to produce a decision-support toolkit to help practitioners create buildings with 'bouncebackability'.

Having studied Architecture at Oxford Brookes University and obtained RIBA Part II in 1994, Jacqui then undertook an EPSRC sponsored PhD on tilt-up concrete construction. On completion of her PhD in 1997, she was given the Alumni Association Graduation Award for 'outstanding contribution to the life of the University', and then joined Oxford Brookes University as a Senior Lecturer in Architectural Technology. During the following five years she also worked as Architectural Consultant to the British Cement Association and has always maintained a close relationship with the cement and concrete industry; Jacqui has recently worked with Cembureau, Cement Association of Canada, British Precast and The Concrete Centre. She is currently supervising 12 PhD and EngD students many of whom are sponsored by building materials organisations to carry out research on environmental or sustainability topics; this is leading to new work on organisational transformation for sustainability (through strategy development, technical innovation and managerial actions).

 

Ian McAndrew
Associate Director at The Helmsley Group

Ian has been driving forward Helmsley's £100 million property development portfolio and has been involved in a number of the region's most prestigious office and residential developments, including Lendal Tower, a 14th century York landmark, and Blake Mews, the redevelopment of an electrical shop at 3-5 Blake Street in York into two shop/office units, two apartments and two mews cottages. Ian has also been at the forefront of developing the blueprint for Helmsley's Eco Business Centre, a purpose built environmentally friendly sustainable business centre designed specifically for the needs of small emerging businesses requiring small flexible modern business accommodation.

Simon Carrington, Partner, DSP Architects

Simon Carrington a partner of DSP Architects of York. Simon has been involved in commercial developments both in the UK and overseas with DSP for over 20 years. Schemes completed include the Sunderland metro extension including the underground station the new Corby train station, retail schemes across the UK, major mixed use schemes in Ahmnebad and Jamnagar India. More recently the practice has worked on a number of commercial and mixed use sustainable developments including the York Eco Centre with the Helmsley Group.
