Sustainability Speak

    1. Wood is naturally renewable, and wood products help reduce a building’s carbon footprint;
    2. Wood products, like glulam beams and timber frame, are readily available;
    3. Wood products are ideal for off-site manufacture, speeding construction times, reducing the need for on-site labour, and reducing snagging problems;
    4. Wood solutions have already been used successfully in many large projects;
    5. There are many specialist companies in the UK and Europe with the expertise to help with wood solutions;
    6. Glulam and other timber solutions represent excellent value;
    7. Wood engineering is ideal for temporary structures or structures that need to be moved and re-erected;
    8. Wood and engineered wood products have a very good strength-to-weight ratio, requiring reduced foundations, and making them particularly suitable for awkward or unstable sites;
    9. Wood products, like glulam, plywood and timber cladding, look (and feel) great;
    10. Using wood encourages Europe’s forest owners to plant more trees, increasing the carbon sink effect of Europe’s forest.
