| LINCOLN UNIVERSITY REVEALS NEW DEVELOPMENT PLANS | ||
| 10 March 2010 The University of Lincoln has set out its master plan for further expansion of its city centre campus. Landscaped squares, state-of-the-art footbridges and new hubs of creativity have been factored into the ever-increasing sprawl of the university. And a major new addition will be the Artbox - a studio space for art and design students. It means another 900 students drawn down into the city from buildings they are currently housed in - the Greestone building in Lindum Road and Thomas Parker House in Silver Street. And the university plans to build its third state-of-the-art footbridge from the Artbox back to Brayford Pool - a project that will alone cost around £3m. Estates director at the university John Plumridge said the main sticking point for development in the city was the railway. He said: "I think Network Rail have a duty to provide footpaths and bridges, it's a requirement to do that wherever." The Artbox and the university's brand new engineering school are set to be complete by 2011/2012.
