| PLANS FOR 300 HOMES SUBMITTED TO LINCOLN COUNCIL | ||
| 26 January 2010 Blueprints submitted by developers would see the demolition of the Lincoln Castings site in North Hykeham in a move to revive the local economy. The proposals aim to draw in a string of new businesses and create a significant number of new jobs in the area. The news comes just days after it was announced Siemens could axe up to 300 jobs in the city over the next two years. Locals have hailed plans to knock down the Castings foundry, which has stood empty since the company owning it went into liquidation in 2006. Some have expressed fears about the pressure on traffic the new development could trigger. But the blueprints, which have now been lodged with planners, could also see a park and ride scheme for more than 100 cars. Bus and rail links could also be boosted.
