| 21 May 2007 The Design Week kicked-off a six-month focus on design for affordable homes across the country.
The Local Sustainable Design Forums (LSDF) are designed to bring together local housing providers, local authority housing and planning experts, representatives from resident's panels and other local experts to discuss and review schemes for affordable housing supported by Housing Corporation funding. Any stakeholder, including development partners, can put forward schemes for review at a forum. It is envisaged that schemes will be brought forward in the early stages of design prior to a detailed planning application being submitted. There will also be an emphasis on key strategic schemes and/or schemes involving new ways of working. The forums will be jointly facilitated and financed by Housing Corporation and Opun, the architecture and built environment centre for the East Midlands, within Regeneration East Midlands.
