Description

The construction industry is playing a very important role in the Russian national economy, making impressive progress.  It is one of the fastest growing sectors with a 23.5% year-on-year increase during January - September 2007.  Since the beginning of 2007 the construction industry attracted £952 million accrued foreign investment.  The building volume in January - September 2007 reached £42.56 billion according to the government construction agency Rosstroy.  Demand for high-quality building products is estimated to be growing at a rate of 10 - 15% per year and the market for building products in Russia is estimated to be worth over £3 billion.  There are over 130,000 companies in the construction industry employing 4.9 million people and representing 7.3% of Russia's total workforce.
