The survey posed questions such as: "What will your government do to ensure that there is appropriate incentive to see continued development of brown field sites in favour of green field ones?

The Housing Forum has established itself as the only cross sector organisation covering all aspects of housing construction: private, public, and social sectors and their supply chains.  They are currently running a series of regional conferences; the East Midlands event takes place in Leicester on Wednesday, 6th June 2007, at the National Space Centre.

Carbon Footprint - News

  • Christian Aid argues that Britain’s share of global CO2 emissions is far higher than the 2% claimed by Tony Blair, and that : “Our research reveals a truly staggering quantity of unreported carbon dioxide is emitted around the world by the FTSE100 companies”.
  • The ‘UK Green Building Council’ was launched on 27 February 2007, with a start-up membership of 36 of the most influential companies in the sector, with the aim of : “Dramatically improving the sustainability of the built environment within the next 10 years”.
  • As one of Europe’s windiest countries, the UK had a record breaking year in 2006 with 634 mW installed through ‘wind farms’ – a 47% increase over 2005.
  • Approximately two thirds of houses standing in 2050 will have been built prior to 1996, and many will fall well below commonly accepted thermal standards – if the planned reduction of 60% of carbon emissions is to be achieved, then this reality has to be crucially addressed.
