The East Midlands Skills Gap

Introduction

This analysis summarises previously published material on construction industry skills availability and future requirements at both a national and regional (East Midlands) level. It draws upon a variety of construction and labour market statistics including the CITB’s national and regional labour market forecasts, the ONS Labour Force Survey and the DTI’s State of the Industry Report. These have been combined with additional training supply data supplied by the LSDA in order to establish the region’s current and future construction labour supply situation in the context of wider regional and national trends within the industry. This section of Bridging The Gap East Midlands assesses both the quantity and quality of training provision, the latter being based on inspection reports of the region's training providers.
